So last night, some of the guys on our floor invited us over to their room to play cards and whatnot. So we went. We were having a pretty good time, too, even though a lot of the people on our floor are tools.
Eventually though, the conversation got a tad political and this one guy... Jesus fucking Christ.

I mean, don't get me wrong, I don't hate conservatives. I don't even care if they don't keep their opinions to themselves. (It's not like I do.)
But when you don't listen to the other side of the issue and just attack/insult people for not having the same opinion as you?
I'm sorry, but the world already has enough assholes.

Seriously, this guy was probably the most right-winged person I've EVER met. Maybe that's not saying much, since I come from Toronto. But honestly... it was kind of insane. I mean yeah, you've got the ones who support war and capital punishment. I can even somewhat accept now (although it still infuriates me to hell) that some people absolutely do not support same-sex marriage because it goes against their morals/values/religion/upbringing.

But then it got really ridiculous.

On top of the above, he thinks global warming is just a hoax and that there isn't enough evidence to support it, thinks that there's no difference between socialism and communism (after one of my roommates explained it quite clearly to him FIVE TIMES), he pretty much said "rich people shouldn't have to pay higher taxes just so lazy poor people can go to college", supports colonizing and assimilating Native "Indians" against their wills, and thinks that slavery and general human suffering and exploitation can be justified if it gets a country industrialized more quickly. (like Russia during communism, or China right now)

I tried not to get involved, until he basically labelled poor people as lazy... and it just got uglier from there.
Ugh. I just feel really disgusted that someone like that lives next door to me.

BUT ANYWAY.

Today my roommates and I went out and got LOBSTER POUTINE for lunch.
Poutine is this Canadian fast food thing with fries, gravy, and cheese. However, this one had fries (and really amazing fries), this seafood butter sauce with mascarpone(sp?) cheese, lobster chunks...... and just general awesomeness...
I didn't even feel disgusted after I ate it, like I do when I have regular poutine. It was like, the best thing ever *__*

Then when we got home we initially planned on having a light dinner....... in the end we decided to make steak instead (WTF |D;) We also tried making rice pudding in our slow cooker but it kinda turned into a really watery epic fail... taste-wise it was pretty good, though.

Anyway yeah. Needed to vent about that one thing and rejoice about those other things. I feel better now. Time to study again </3
